RE: BillM

Hi,

I brought my heater valve to an industrial supplier of gaskets and
o-rings for them to look at. They gave me an o-ring that worked fine
although I do not often have my 313 opened up. I have, however, on
occasion let the 230 horses run and did not get wet feet.

Putting a gasket on the outside of the heater box will not solve the
problem. The heater valve is stuck into the core and sealed with the
o-ring. If the o-ring is defective the coolant will come out between
the core and valve and run down onto the floor.

It may be that your rebuilt valve let go but likely it is the o-ring.

Drain the coolant down enough to get the valve out of the heater box and
you can then look at it.

I also do not want components on my car that don't work. Fortunately,
most items can be easily fixed with better parts than original.

Good luck.

K.

Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person. I.e., send parts/car transactions and negotiations as well as other personal messages only to the intended recipient, not to the Clubhouse public address. This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
