Hydraulic multplier is greater or bigger as a hydraulic gives more Rpm for a given duration than a solid (untill you reach 7000 which is the upper limit for hydrualic lifters) It takes approx 14 more degrees duration @.050" for a solid cam than a hydraulic because the solid wastes 7 degrees at the beginning taking up lifter clearance (valve lash)and needs about another 7 at the end to set the valve down so it doesnt bounce . Hydraulics dont need this. Also solids give gross valve lift which is a 0 lash . No solid cam runs at 0 lash so lift is gross lift a zero lash minus lash . So a 500 lift solid cam which requires .020 lash actualy only has 480 lift. A hydraulic gives almost exactly what it says (typically we assume a .006" loss. ) I know , i know! It flys in the face of everthing we have been led to believe but it is however the actual truth.
