Re: Sig Erson Mopar cam

just curious, would that Erson Cam work good in a Poly stroker or mildly built Poly with just 'reworked heads'?
I guess what I'm trying to find out is does a cam have to be Poly specific, or will any small block cam, solid lifter
or pump up, give the same results more or less.?
and thanks! as always for any info.

Don,
I have a NOS Sig Erson Cam for the Mopar small block 340/360 sitting under my desk in its original box.
It is the Mopar "D" cam (must stand for Dulmage, right?) HIR-M2 #421611. I checked an old catalog and it is a good mid and top-end cam; 320duration/.505 lift, 256 @.050.

A neat cam but I don't think I will ever use it as my 340 car has a new cam already

If you just want a rough idle they will do the job as will sealed ower federal mogul and many other genereic cams. You will get little if any power from these cams .My favourite is racer brown because these cams were specifically developed for thses motors however
Comp cams has recently put in an admiral effort and developed their extreme energy series whixh so far apprears to be excellant and Mopar specific.
Ultrdyne has mopar specific but for me the lifts are too high for the duration which is do say they do not match the reality of the iron head engnes.
They would be fine for aftermarket headed engines though and Hughes is similar.
Erson in the 70s had some excellant Mopar b/RB cams but they are not in their catalog anymore since they became all things to all people.

Lunati has some Mopar cams as well , one is their verison of the 426 max wedge cam and I suspect it would be a god cam although I have not run that particular one. Don
With cams and converters especially one has to be careful. You can easily save $50 and lose 100hp or 3 or 4 tenths in the 1/4 mile
