i have a complete small block push button 727 with a slip yoke and a 65 big
block case with no tail or guts . can i swap cases to end up with a big
block slip joint push button 727

Those big block 65 slip yoke transmissions are really getting tough to find.
The Imperials are popping up everywhere, and most people are passing
them up because of the flanged output shaft.
It would make good sense to pick up the transmission, and change the
outout shaft and extension housing .
It's a lot easier to find the output shaft and extension housing from a
small block , than it is, to find the big block transmissions.They did
use them on smallblocks from 273's and larger, if the buyer specified
the heavy duty transmission option.
One day soon, you won't have the option.
