i had to use a long piece of thick strong pipe and pry against the K-frame and the mount to get them to drop back into place. I believe i had to jack it up a little to help, this could be a 2 man job but i was able to do it alone. did you remove the trans mount, as that should keep it from going back too far?

  Car: 64 Polara
   Motor: 440
    Trans : 727
      Problem: Jacked up motor about 1 1/2 inches to snake out exhaust
      manifolds to replace leaky gaskets. Now I cant get the four studs
      ( 2 per mount) to drop in to the holes in the K frame brackets.
      Looks like engine shifted  backwards about 3/8 of an inch.Help!
      Please!
