if you're reeeeal careful with the threads, you can use a thin prybar or srewdriver to flex the mount and get the studs to drop in the holes. then move the trans around a little bit to get everything settled in... this is where the extremely flexible nature of 62-65 mounts can actually be a good thing

i had to use a long piece of thick strong pipe and pry against the K-frame 
and the mount to get them to drop back into place. I believe i had to jack 
it up a little to help, this could be a 2 man job but i was able to do it 
alone. did you remove the trans mount, as that should keep it from going 
back too far?
