It sounds like you have air in the master. Have someone get in the car, just crack the line coming out of the master a little bit, just enough to let some air our, have the person in the car push very slowly in on the petal. Before they let up, tighten the fitting, and do it again. You should only have to do it a couple of times. Sounds crazy, but it works. After that you should have a petal. If you don't, it is not in the master. What do you make of the fact that it doesn't appear to be pumping fluid with each depression of the brake pedal? It should spout fluid like a fountain if it's working correctly shouldn't it? If so, then assuming no leaks, and you rebuilt the MC correctly, they have NOT been bled. If they were bled correctly you would be getting a firm pedal. Also, you know most of the time you are supposed to bench bleed the MC before it's mounted. I've bled them to death, no air, no leaks. The one thing I notice is that when I pump the pedal, only periodically do I get brake fluid shooting up from inside the master cylinder. Am I mistaken but shouldn't that be a consistent happening? It was my first attempt at rebuilding a master cylinder but it seemed fairly straight forward. Thanks for the help.
