My first Dodge was a pickup truck, sounds like a country western song.I paid 350 for a nice straight '65 D 200. Poly 318/ 3 on the tree Not a good idea... I was cutting fire wood and had to back up a steep, rocky road to get some logs that I had cut. The torque of the Poly and the mass of the load were not meant for each other... BANG!!! it popped out of gear and knocked a tooth from the reverse gear, sadly, I limped home and parked it in front of the house.About 2 weeks later I awaken to anouther BANG!!! Some drunk wedged his small auto under the Dodge,he tried to tell the police that the Dodge jumped out in front of him,but the officer kept writing. His ins co paid me 500 and allowed me to buy it back for 51 dollars. They also offered me another Dodge p/u for 50 bucks,it had a REAL truck transmission,4 speed with granny low,and it had a good box. The kicker was when I stripped the truck I found that three of the four brake lines had been cut and pounded flat. What a concept, two tons of iron and only one brake! I fixed her up and used the truck for a couple of years,it drove ok but a guy I know stopped me and said,"nice power slide you have going on there" we tradded outfits and I followed my truck.Indeed!!!There she was, going down the street in a nice controlled skid.I trade the truck for a '70 Barracuda 225/three speed, wish I still had both of them, Stan ---- Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
