Oh about the exhaust bypass valve, I would not remove it, I would just take some steel wire and wire it open so it doesn't rattle and bother you. If it is leaking and making noise from the exhaust leak then you will have to take it off and deal with it, but I'd just live with it, it's a bit of a pain as rusted on exhaust bolts tend to not be friendly.
