Steve,I have found that the dyno numbers people quote don't equate to commensurate ET's in the quarter mile as proven by all the cars I waxed at the track boasting "impressive" rear wheel and flywheel HP & Torque. The only thing that matters competitively is who reached the end of the quarter first; and the only thing that matters personally is do you like how you car runs - forget what other people think and say; hey, kind of sound like Don Dulmage there!

I wondered about that (although neither dyno tech had any input). My theory is that if there is no load data accumulated between say, 2000 and 5000 RPM,then the calculations are only accurate on what happens from the time the converter locks up and when the tech lets off - the rest (2K to 5K) looks like "no-power". That's my theory and I'm stickin' to it. There was a Mustang at the one show that pulled just after me that registered something like 580hp with a 347 and a hair dryer. Talk about feeling like a weenie. Don't know if you could discern from the audio, but the printout (which is AWOL right now) showed that the horsepower and torque curves crossed at 5200rpm (which is guess is some kind of cosmic constant?) and there was a little sag at 5600 (I'm guessing when the cross-ram stops ramming). After that she smooths out and just sings. Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one who has had that problem. My 340 street Dart showed 268HP and 277Torque to the rear wheels and turned 12.8 @ 106mph in the quarter. The video clip sure makes the car look to have more power than the 250 to 280. But I bet its still fun to drive. Not sure if it's the loose (5K flash) convertor or what, but the numbers are incredibly low. Or maybe the thing is just a stone, although with that motor it would run 11.40's through the tailpipes at 3600lbs... Anybody know chassis dynos well enough to know what is going on?? How much power at the back wheels did it have? We took the Barracuda to Woodward in '06 and Mopar buddy Bill Irimescu fixed me up with his friend Andy and hisDynoJet. Manditory '62-'65 content is that the Barracuda was powered bythe Max Wedge that will go in the Wagoon if I get it together before I croak. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJ65e0H2CME http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bJeVX-zJX4 SC ---- Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
