My tflight hooked to my 383 also shifter better when I added a trans cooler which I have before my radiator t cooler. I drive this 65 as my only car so I end up sitting in some traffic and that is when I would have some trouble or when driving over 60 for any. Of time. I may try switching the order now after reading everybodies suggestions...

I have had a problem in the past when I was towing a trailer with my '71
Dodge 383 truck. Before I added a trans cooler it got too hot and
actually spewed trans fluid. The cooler fixed it.

I just gotta think that I want the cooler to remove heat before the
radiator to help keep the radiator cooler. I will get a trans temp gauge
and if it seems too cool I can delete the rad cooler. My cooler is the
BMM-70266 in the Summit catalog which is rated for 28,000 lbs GVW. The
mid-size racing cooler. I did hit the top first with the incoming fluid.

I would guess just skipping the rad altogether is fine if your
going to be in the heat all the time anyway.

I would think that sizing your trans cooler area would solve both your
problems, keeping the temp. cooler in the summer and warm enough in the
winter (or cooler weather) to function peoperly?
