Steve, is that particular to the year of car? I thought the 62-64 cars
used
shims for adjustment, so the axles are the same. My car had shims on both
sides, the axles were the same side to side. I thought the newer cars ( 65
and up) used some kind of adjusting screws ( probably the wrong word for
what they are),so the adjuster was on the right side.

Hi Kevin,
If it is a 8 3/4 axle, one side axle should have an adjustment for end
play.
Every one that I've taken apart this adjustment has been on the right
(passenger side) although it doesn't make any difference as long as the
end
play is adjusted properly.

Subject: 64 Axles
Hi folks,
Recently, I removed the axles fromm my wife's 64 Polara 500 and after
cleaning them I want to reinstall them but do not know if there is a
left and right.
There was a single paint mark on one of the axles and writing on both
of them. Does it matter which side the axle goes on?
I did pay attention to the shims but not the axles.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks.
K.
