Forwarding my response to John for others who may be interested. Seems the notch wasn’t really necessary. If anyone does have an interference issue, just file a bit off rather than search for the “right” pump. Years ago, I think there was something about the number stamped on the body to identify the 300C pump but I don’t remember what that was. As you can see, the notch doesn’t make that much difference as installed on my car but it is there to clear the front of the block.
