Or maybe this is an aftermarket or NOSR (new old stock replacement) one-size-fits-all that Carter made available ? I doubt that Chrysler Corp built cars with a fuel pump that needed this custom treatment. Seems the notch wasn’t really necessary. If anyone does have an interference issue, just file a bit off rather than search for the “right” pump. Years ago, I think there was something about the number stamped on the body to identify the 300C pump but I don’t remember what that was. As you can see, the notch doesn’t make that much difference as installed on my car but it is there to clear the front of the block.
