Hi John,  I looked at my 57 and 58 fuel pumps and have none with such a notch but examining the installation I can see why such a notch may have been cut into one. Hard to imagine the fuel pump mounting to be out of position so as to require such a mod but anything is possible;    My attachment shows the corner of the block near the pump. But on 3 engines I see no interference.
