Re[2]: {Chrysler 300} 61 starter recommdations

Congrats on the progress Michael!

Re. the anti-stall, if original, we typically see that they rarely work anymore after all these years.  Don would be the expert on this, not me, I but I wonder how necessary they are on F/G.
For the J and RamK, Chrysler eliminated the anti-stall device altogether.

Thanks for all for the updates.  I went back to basics, thanks for the direction.

I moved the negative battery cable to the ac bracket to head bolt.  The hot starting got a little better.  Then I followed the manual on adjusting the timing and setting the idle speed.

I set timing to 5 BTDC without vacuum.  And then followed the rest of the steps.  Now I have a smooth idle at 800 and it starts right up hot.

Now I noticed the anti stall device does not work.  But with the idle at 800 it resists the urge to stall in certain instances.   The motor runs smooth though.

Any thoughts on the anti stall device?

Thanks for all the pointers and guidance on this.

When I first got my G it cranked slow and would not start hot. I replaced the coil and the hot start problem went away.

Hello all I got the G running and driving!  Finally.

It is very hard to start when hot, the starter barley turns the motor over.  Cranks fine cold, and I just put in a new group 27 battery.

It feels like the starter is tired.

Is there a high torque starter that will bolt onto the bellhousing?  I’m running the cast iron torqueflite.

Any recommendations?

Thanks Mike
