Hi Bob, I tried that and it did not work. All it does is twist the wires up as the bezel and the tube turned and the entire things screwed out leaving the plastic bulb base in the dash. I fished out the bulb base, it barley fits through the hole. I now assume that there is a large nut laying someplace in the bottom of the dash. I suspect I will have to take off the AC outlet to get in there unless someone comes up with

The red lense and bezel screws into the socket. Maybe you can get that off from the front and swap the lamp all from the front side.
