Re: {Chrysler 300} Ok, I will cry Uncle...

Empathy !!

probably not applicable but i got in similar jam on 57 , unscrewed jewel ok , but bulb is push in and turn . No way can fingers do that into the deep tight hole . Drove me nuts swearing at designer of this .
Finally got little suction cup like  from  kid’s dart game pushing like hell , hoping to turn and push bulb . Bulb crushes and breaks glass !
Put big screwdriver into remains trying to push and turn , socket pops off the back (!) arrgh
Not at all obvious looks swaged in viewed  from back and yes that big nut was tight .

EE attack never getting in this again —- replaced smashed mess with 3W disc style red LED added series R  in wires no socket (to dim down too bright and cut heat )

Hi Bob,

I tried that and it did not work. All it does is twist the wires up as the bezel and the tube turned and the entire things screwed out leaving the plastic bulb base in the dash.

I fished out the bulb base, it barley fits through the hole. I now assume that there is a large nut laying someplace in the bottom of the dash. I suspect I will have to take off the AC outlet to get in there unless someone comes up with a plan B.

What a PITA for one bulb.

The red lense and bezel screws into the socket. Maybe you can get that off from the front

and swap the lamp all from the front side. I found my spare dash in the warehouse but

it is 34 degrees and I didn't stay long enough to pursue.

Hi All,

On a ’64 how does one change the parking brake bulb? There is not way I can get my hand up there with the AC vent in place. Am I missing something?
