I was reading the other day the factory assembly manual I recently purchased for the 1963 and 1964 Chryslers. There is an entire page in fine print on the attachment of door-trunk seals. It makes interesting reading as to all the particulars. Much more involved than one would think. One big take way is to NOT stretch the seal around corners. But rather to place excess seal in the corners and “load the seal” and then hold it down with clips of some type until it dries. What they wanted was the foam to compress against
itself in the corners so that when the foam dries out over time as it shrinks it does not tear itself apart. Interesting to read. James From: chrysler-300-club-international@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <chrysler-300-club-international@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
On Behalf Of Rich Barber I recall age-old “discussions” on new seals preventing the deck from closing properly. Even with good location, new seals may be a little thick for easy closure. Time, cycles and heat should produce a satisfactory
closure. Remember to place the joint at the lower lip. Rich Barber From:
