I went digging around the firewall and found a second vacuum line sticking out a bit. When I traced it, it is for the vacuum gauge. Now, can someone give me a check on this? I thought the vacuum circuit went from that special fitting on the intake manifold, into the dash, then there is a Tee under the dash that one branche feeds the heater-ac switch and the other branch goes to the vacuum gauge. Did someone re-route it at some point? Or was this factory? James From: chrysler-300-club-international@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <chrysler-300-club-international@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
On Behalf Of Rich Barber Vacuum-powered door locks were offered on 1964 Chrysler 4-door sedans. Perhaps that second outlet is for the locks. Page 23-62 in the FSM references a line from the intake
manifold to a vacuum tank. Is the unused nipple plugged or capped? Rich Barber Damp, CA From: 'James Douglas' via Chrysler 300 Club International <chrysler-300-club-international@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
Hi All, There is a large fitting on the rear of the intake manifold that is the vacuum source for the power brake booster. It has a small tap off of that fitting that goes to the dash, I presume for the heater-AC vacuum switch and the Vacuum Gauge.
My problem is that there is a black plastic “TEE” on that line above 2 inches above the manifold. One side heads to the dash like I mentioned above. But the other end ? Nothing on it. Where does that go? Where does the vacuum gauge get its source. Under the dash if I remember correctly, so that is not it. So, where does that other side of the “T” go ? I have tried to find it in the Master Parts Book but without luck.
