I have an F with copper pipes long ago there was discussion on that , it was tentatively decided it went back and forth for no discernible reason . Maybe availability on a given day ?
Sent from my iPhone not by choice Kind of begs this question: When did the heater hoses on top of the manifolds on an F become copper piped under the manifolds on a G? The factory G photo shows them as hoses as in the F....

John, et al,
Attached are several reference pictures I’ve used over the years. I agree with Noel, the dent on the air cleaner facing the side is only on the driver side. I’m in the middle of a bathroom remodel and should have looked at it closer before I responded. The attached photos are of great help and can answer many questions.

Bob, which air cleaner decal should be facing the firewall?....John

John,
The link only brought me to the pictures of the car, not a video. The dents on the air cleaners in the picture of the engine compartment appear to be correct. The dents are outboard, so as to clear the hood when closed. The decals on the air cleaners are not applied correctly though, well, one at least. The correct placement puts one decal facing the firewall, the other facing out towards the grill. It is my understanding that once painted at the factory, the air cleaners had their decals affixed in the same place, and then when installed, they are turned 180 degrees from each other.
This is a very nice car, but does have a number of non-original things done during resto. I don’t know if this is a 999 or 888 car, but the color is non stock as are the seats. The car sits too high in the rear, and my data indicates all 300Gs had an under hood pad and underbody undercoating as standard, not body color. Just a few obvious (to me) things that jump out.

Mecum took a video of the G prior to auction. You can view it on this link. Just go to the second picture to view the video.
Also, can someone comment on the placement of the air filters? The 'dent' on both are facing each other. Is this the correct placement?

Mecum doesn’t own the car. Same collector owns around 40 highly significant and rare cars. He has never been realistic on price for them. This G could have been bought over the past 4 years privately for around 225. He wanted 4m for his 400F french 4 speed convertible and 2m for the Desoto Adv FI convertible he has. Sometimes the sellers aren’t realistic, but why should that deter mecum from running it? You never know who is in the crowd. It’s on the seller to create hype and PR for the car if they want to max their value.
Those weren’t New Yorker convertibles, they were Imperials and they went a little light. They were penalized likely due to being for sale multiple times before as a lot of 5, which is a dumb way to try and sell them.
This was one of two things:
1. Mecum not knowing the merchandise, look it at a rediculous reserve they accepted. Entirely possible. I type from experience. They do not know these cars well.
2. Mecum owns the car. More likely given the 300k+ presale estimate.
They did sell a serious of NY'r convertibles (57-61) all of which sold for $110k ish. Seemed market correct to me.
