Mecum doesn’t own the car. Same collector owns around 40 highly significant and rare cars. He has never been realistic on price for them. This G could have been bought over the past 4 years privately for around 225. He wanted 4m for his 400F french 4 speed convertible and 2m for the Desoto Adv FI convertible he has. Sometimes the sellers aren’t realistic, but why should that deter mecum from running it? You never know who is in the crowd. It’s on the seller to create hype and PR for the car if they want to max their value. Those weren’t New Yorker convertibles, they were Imperials and they went a little light. They were penalized likely due to being for sale multiple times before as a lot of 5, which is a dumb way to try and sell them.
