Re: [Chrysler300] Macungie FAQs

My H has 1 year old tires about 500 miles on them. The engine has never been rebuilt.

Dittos on what Michael said.

I would not be afraid to drive our F anywhere judging on how it ran and handled after the re-fab/build last year.

I will, however, carry a few spare parts and be running 15” radials on 1970 Sport 300 wheels.

I would not dream of setting out with the now 10+ year old Cokers that I bought back when the club had a “special” deal on them.

I use them only for local hauls.

If the 70 wheels and tires rule me out from being under the tent, so be it, safety first, after all, it’s a driver not a trailer queen.

Jim,

First, I have not had my 300H to a serious show in few years, but am getting it in shape to get back on the road.

My wife and I drove our 300H from Los Angeles to Victoria BC several times, not to mention that we brought it back from Illinois to Los Angeles after an engine rebuild.

In my years of experience, I had only the following problems:

1. Alternators were a problem. I would cary a spare.

2. If it were me, I would send the dissy off to the Philbin Group and have it rebuilt just to make sure its all ok.

3. I would carry a replacement voltage regulator.

I do have to say I had a bad valve recession problem 10,000 miles after my engine rebuild. I did not have hardened seats . My wife and I had to do a valve job in a friends back yard in Portland on the way home. I had been driving at over 90 going up and down hills in hot weather with unleaded gasoline.

I would not set out with very old tires. My Michelin tires were very very old, and based on the Micheln toire mans recommendations, I started out on a 1800 mie trip, They each failed, one at a time, and at speed,

You will have a great trip, and an unrestored H would be a pleasure to see,

Hi group. This show sounds very interesting and I am contemplating coming to it. I have a couple of questions:

1. How does a car get selected to be under the tent?

2. Is the only problem with being under the tent is that you have to leave it there overnight?

3. How many of you would drive a 62 H survivor with 126,000 miles (new tires and brakes though) 750 miles to this show? The farthest I’ve driven it at one time so far in 8 years of ownership is about 100 miles. Or am I better off trailering? Have I been a chicken-you-know-what? or just overly protective?

thanks as usual for your help
