I’ve had a couple fellas respond so far that they’ve had the same problem with KYBs on the rear. All cases including mine have have recent installations, which makes me wonder if the quality of the seals has gone downhill. I can’t imagine this has been a big problem historically or we would have seen many posts to this effect on the listserver. Some models of our cars have rear wheel wells that require us to have the rear end fully dangle just to remove tires/wheels or service rear brakes. We can’t always have a jack under the diff to keep the hind end up enough to prevent this problem.. I think we should reconsider our recommendations for KYBs on the rear given their shorter than stock stroke, but I realize Monroe and Gabriel alternatives are not as good for our heavy cars. Rock Auto replaced it for free. I think the extended length of this shock is shorter than the original, causing extra stress on the seal when the car is lifted. When the car is on the lift, you need to raise the rear end up a lot with a tranny jack to attach the shock. Both cars have been run only a few miles since the shock installation. When I jacked up the wheels off the ground to change transmission fluid, at least one of the two rear shocks on each car leaked out a noticeable amount light oil either when the car was up in the air or when I let the cars back down off the jack stands. That canât be right. Seems to have something to so with the shock being fully extended. Does that mean the cylinders blew? Anyone else have this issue with recently purchased KYBs? Front shocks (KYB 4507) did not have this problem. > > Carl Bilter > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ To send a message to this group, send an email to: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to bob@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or go to http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Chrysler300/join and select the "Leave Group" button For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm For archives go to http://www.forwardlook.net/300-archive/search.htm#querylangYahoo!
