[Chrysler300] Blown Hemi's & Wedges

The vanes in the centrifugal Paxton blowers pumping into a pair of tuned rams would create an interesting pulsation pattern in the intake passages. As the rams were created to squeeze a little bit of extra air into the cylinders, they might be superfluous to a blown engine and an inline dual quad manifold might work just as well or better—while providing more room for blower plumbing. Just an added note for your bucket list: Buy yourself a Windsor or a Newport, stuff it with a hemi or a wedge and hang blowers on it. Don’t cobble up a letter car.

Paxton blowers are belt driven and provide relatively low boost—6 to 8 psi. But, still provide an approximately 50% increase in available air—and the same amount of potential increased horsepower. That might take a 390 HP 300K to 585 HP. Horsepower required for higher speed increases approximately as the cube of the speed, so a 7 psi boost might increase horsepower by 50% and take a 135 MPH Chrysler 300 to 154 MPH. More on Granatelli’s work at: http://chrysler300country.com/1960_300F_andy_granatelli.htmI had forgotten that Granatelli owned Paxton. More on Paxtons at: http://www.paxtonauto.com/article.php?id=152#q14

In the stable: A turbocharged 1986 Chrysler LeBaron convertible with 7 psi boost, increasing the rated HP of the little 135 CID engine by 50% from 97 HP to 146 HP. The same displacement engine with a higher boost turbo was taken to 224 HP—achieving the 100 HP/liter goal. The same boost would potentially take a 413 Chrysler 300 engine to 677 HP and 160+ MPH.

John
Didn't Granatelli do the twin superchargers on a Studebaker Avanti? Doing it on a 300C would be very interesting, you'd need to have both carbs running together. Twin superchargers on a Long Ram would be even better. It would be a little crowded under the hood. However the curb appeal would astronomical to say the least. Both are doable, I will add one of them to my bucket list.

Oh, so you're 'on the bottle' now, eh? You should also do the Granatelli
recreation of twin Paxton superchargers on your F.
