My NEW BRITAIN socket measures 2-1/8 at the widest point and 1-7/8 at the 
narrowest point. I've used this socket on my 300H and on   my 300Ls as well 
as on my 69 RoadRunner.  I have the smaller socket also which is for  A-body 
cars.  I don't know if there is a larger socket as I've never done ball 
joints on a LWB 300.  Maybe LWB 300s and Imperials utilize a  larger ball 
joint. Don Verity...are you out there?
