I  haven't seen anyone mentioning the other more likely reason the pulleys 
were  not alined. That could be that the rubber mounted pulley sheeve on the 
 Harmonic Balancer has moved forward some. You might want to check  that.
This could be.. was the mis-alignment just the water pump?  If the  crank 
pulley was off then the alternator, ps pump and or a/c compressor pulleys  
wouldn't line up either.
