Re: [Chrysler300] Removing a Clock

Hi Jim:

I had the clock for my 300H conv converted to quartz by Jeff Carter at JC Auto Restorations in Washington. He did an excellent job and also restored the electroluminescent portion of it as well.
Now with the ticking noise that you're hearing, it could be from the speedo itself. One way to prove it would be to disconnect the direct drive cable that goes to your tach (undo it at the distributor end) and go for a test drive. If the noise is still there, then it is likely coming from the speedometer.
If you call or contact Jeff about your clock rebuild, ask him about this ticking noise and I'm sure that he'll get you going in the right direction.

    Fern with 300H conv.

Hello again fellow 300'ers....Thank you all for your responses about removing the clock from my H. It is now out of the car waiting to be sent to repair. I'm thinking of Bob's Speedometer in Howell Michigan. Anybody with experience with him? Any ideas on a better place to send it. I was thinking of having it converted to quartz. Is this a no-no for originality or any other reason?

Now for my next question: While driving the H over 50mph, I hear a ticking noise that seems to be coming from the tach (that general area). The tach appears to be working correctly (as good as they can), but the faster I go, the louder it gets. Does my tach cable need lubricating? Anybody else had/have this problem? Thanks in advance for your advice.
