Having one of those temp devices is FUN!!
You can aim em at brake parts, header tubes, lights, A/C vents,
great for speculating on bad plugs, just by aiming at each exhaust
port (or as close as you can get to it on the manifold)
BUT
Will they let you test it before you buy it???
Test it out when you get it, SOME of the IR detectors have harder times
reading some of the surfaces you are probably going to aim it at.
I have one that cannt read radiator tank tops too well, it reads great
some other surfaces, but rad hoses and tanktops were a bust, actually
worthless on those areas. Read in the 90's but in reality were too hot
to hold.
On a whim I visited my local Harbor Freight and bought one of thier $10
specials, it reads some surfaces better then the older one I have.
where as the older unit when its reading well, measures to a higher max
then the bulk of the crop Harbor Freight had in thier store.
Humm, that might be something to note when reading the packages when you
are shopping.
