Matt, invest in a thermal remote gauge. Like the ones they point and 
get temps from various places on the side of houses and tires. Make 
sure it's a non-contact type. They're in the $40 or less range, for a 
cheap one. That way when you have your dash gauge reading on the high 
side, you can open the hood and get readings. Personally, I would put 
in a 14 lb. Cap. That raises the boiling point of water, won't change 
the temps, but makes it less likely to boil over.
