[Chrysler300] '62 Temp Gauge

My daily driver is our 1962 300 Sport with the dual quad H motor. I commute
80 miles a day here in Los Angeles everyday with the big old 413....what an
idiot I am, huh?

Anyway, I am starting to enjoy the factory A/C as it is getting warmer here
now. I have about 38,000 miles on the new motor, radiator, hoses, etc. The
A/C blows nice and cold. I run a 7 pound radiator cap, per advice of my
older retired radiator man.

So, now onto the question...
The temperature gauge has that raised horizontal "bar" portion on it in
between the "C" and the "H" areas. The needle always lives just at the
start of that raised part on the left side of it. When I use the A/C it
goes to the middle of the gauge. When I hit bumper to bumper traffic
(always in LA!) the needle creeps towards the right side of that raised
portion....which is when I start getting nervous about the under hood
temperature and shut off the A/C.

Does anyone know if it's safe to run the car with the needle at the right
portion of the gauge? I don't mean the far right, as obviously that would
be bad! It's hard to know what the real temperature is with the mechanical
gauge....

Thanks!
