I've put 50k+ miles on my E mostly with radials, some of the miles on the stock 14" rims and more with 70's era 15" mopar police wheels. I put well over 150K on three '67 buicks all with radials on 15" rims. No problems on any and no missinng hubcaps! I think its more important that what your driving on can support three tons (the family, lots of tools and luggage) vs. being "made for radials." I tried radials on 14's and wouldn't try it again, so I buy XL load radials and run on 15's. Keep your 14's stock with show tires and drive on 15's with the best radials you can buy (Michelin or Goodyear YES ... Coker NO and Diamondback NO-way). BTW, Goodyear now has a nice line of wide whites. OK - I read the article, and I understand what was said. Now, I think it would be interesting to ask how many of those on the list server have ever had a problem of that nature. I mean we have over 1000 members in the club, many of which no doubt drive original bias ply cars on radials. It would be interesting to know how many of those people have experienced unexplained blow outs or other failures attributable to the rims. Of course, some of any problems experienced could also have resulted from faulty tires, but it would be interesting to see what the club experience has been.
