One way to tell if the piston in the master cylinder is blocking the
compensating port is to remove the master cylinder cover and have someone
gently apply the brakes. Looking into the master cylinder, you should be
able to detect a slight initial fluid movement as the brakes are applied. If
you don't see a slight movement, it is possible the compensating port is
blocked--in which case the pushrod should be shortened.
