Re: [Chrysler300] Help Joe out

Bottom line is that Millions of cars have been produced with the Master
Cyl near the edge of the Exhaust System and it's not a known problem.
So..... look harder. A heat shield would work but only hides the real
problem. The heat is getting to the Master from somewhere. It could
even be that the Engine is getting very hot in that area and not
showing it on the Temp Gauge since the sender is near the front of the
Engine and the water flow is OK there.

If all else fails, buy or borrow a Temp Gun which can read the temps
without touching. Not very pricy nowadays, and a good investment. Then
try to duplicate the problem. Let it sit in the driveway on a hot day,
idling, and take readings on both sides of the engine, each Cyl, each
exhaust Manifold, the Master Cyl, Brake lines and Rad. and so forth.
See if it gets super hot in one area over the others. Record the
numbers and watch for a drastic change.

Water flow, Air flow and Exhaust flow, all can play a part. It could
even be the idle mixture/circuits causing the back Cyls to get extra
hot at idle but off idle OK.

Don't ya love a mystery??? Ray
