Re: [Chrysler300] disc brake

I know there are far better brake experts out there and I expect them to
chime in. I've just been through the rear brakes in my 1955 C-300 and
it was necessary to "arc" grind the shoes to match the ID of the rear
drums. I feel the Chrysler drum brakes are premium and should do an
effective, reliable job. Alignment and arc grinding of the shoes, a
square cut on the drums and full contact are necessary for proper
operation. A little high temp lube on the rub spots on the backing
plate also seems to be worthwhile.

>Ralph, I have a c-300 that does the same thing. Everything is new except the brake lining. Lining was replaced before I got the car but it's like new. The first 15 mins. driving, I have a nice feeling brake. After that, the brakes fade. That would suggest that the shoes were dragging but I check them many times. I don't have that special tool they show on page 61,62,&63 of the '55 repair manual. Probably would make a difference. If someone give you a tip & it works, please let me know. Meanwhile I'm looking at disks too. John Peabody
