Subject: Tires

I received my new 235-75R 14 wide whitewall tires a few days ago and had
them
mounted on my F coupe, replacing the 900 x 14 B. F. Goodrich Silvertowns
bias
tires (from Coker) that were previously on the car. The difference was
dramatic and all positive. With the old tires, any corner was accompanied
by
much noise and a feeling that I was driving on ice, and the car seemed to
follow the paint lines on the road. The new tires restored the
performance
my car is supposed to have. There was some discussion at the Newport meet

concerning the radial tire's size, compared to the original. Below is a
comparison of some parameters of the radials, my old 900 x 14, and, thanks
to
Vice President Jack Wiltse, the car's original 900 x 14 Goodyear Blue
Streaks.

Hi Ivan
Start with your speedo cable. It may be dry, starting to break or have a
kink somewhere along the cable run. DON"T just unhook the end and try to
fill the cable housing up with WD40, it'll migrate into the speedo head.
Take it out, examine it and if OK, lube it with NeverSeize or a good grade
of moly grease. That should fix it, if not the problem is in your head
(the
speedo's)
Good luck, Ray Jones

Subject: Carburator wanted

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a set of rebuilt carbs for my 300F, but am also
interested in any single 4-barrel Carter AFB carb, as long as it is in
excellent condition, and ready to be installed. I'm hoping that someone
out
there knows of one for sale.

Thanks.

Alex Krikhaar

Subject: Hurst Carburetor

As long as we have a Carburetor question out there, I am searching for an
original type carburetor for my 70 Hurst.
The original one was removed, and given as a "auction item" for a local
300 club in Denver to raise some cash for the club.
I believe the correct one will have "4741" stamped on the front base area,
to be used with AC and Auto Trans.
Any help will be appreciated.

Shawn, you probably simply have burnt out dash bulbs. They are on top of
the
instrument cluster, they pop out of the sockets...take one to the auto
parts
store and get them all at once...an easy replacement.

John

Still awaiting my shipment. Of those who have received & installed them,
is there any change in alignment needed or recommended?

Subject: 58 300D Electric Windows

Hi,

I recently bought this car, it had been stored for several years. I
cannot get the electric windows to work properly. The motors have
been serviced and are strong. The switches work, but the windows
need help both up and down. This is all the windows. I have tried
to lubricate the channels and all friction points, but no change.
Can anyone out there give me some hints on what might be the problem?

Also, a previous owner put a floor shifter in the car, so I am
searching for the proper torqueflite shifter buttons and the
chrome/stainless bezel to restore originality. If anyone has any of
these parts they would be willing to sell, please let me know.

Thanks, Bill
