Sounds like this needs to be a tech article on the club site.

Since these cable floor shifters only had a short lifespan, the factory procedure wouldn't have needed to be used much in the first several years. There might have been a bulletin of it was problematic.

Now for the third time after following the service manual adjustment procedure to the T, I arrive back in the garage with reverse gone and pushing the shifter hard forward to get into Park. Will start in Neutral, and lower gears engage.

 

I am having the shifter held back hard in low gear as I adjust the cable at the trans.

 

Would I be advised to err with the cable deeper or outward with the star wheel final setting? Or not hold the shifter back?

 

Has anyone run into the same issue? I never had an issue with push button shifters.
