Doug, The max machining allowed is usually embossed on the drum. Always cut the least amount needed to clean them. Hard spotted drums can be ground but the spots will remain, and eventually resurface. I own and use a shoe arching machine manufactured By Anco. as well as the drum lathe. I do not have the arbor to cut the rear drums.

Hi Group, 

An acquaintance of mine is looking for a machine shop in the Las Vegas area that can turn 12" drums and arc the shoes to fit. 

He has a 1962 Chrysler Conv. - any suggestions? 

As I recall 0.080 is the max - at least in Calif.
