Hi Lee, Allow me to pay Devil's Advocate here. 1/ Why would the trans not "work" (bolt up) to a 62 and later crank ? 2/ There is a company that makes a conversion kit for the later Toqueflites to pushbutton operation 3/ Shorten driveshaft Many, many years ago I obtained a '60 Saratoga 2 door hardtop rolling car w/ no drivetrain in it save for the rear. I also obtained a 70? 71? Newport car... had a 400, 727.... I had very little money at the time and nothing better to do so I transplanted the Newport drivetrain into the Saratoga. It was just about a no-brainer ! The engine and trans fit in with NO WELDING and NO MODIFICATIONS ! the '71 Newport drivetrain fit like a glove - even the Y-pipe, and the driveshaft fit in with no alterations needed. All I needed to do was figure out a shifter for the trans, and that was about it ! So I really think that the motor home trans MAY work providing one used a post '61 engine . One may have to shorten a driveshaft...and play wiht the crossmember... if I had such a trans here I'd love to try it ! Much superior setup, probably has heavy duty everything and part-throttle kickdown.
