Black smoke.....it's running rich. Check the obvious first. Floats, 
needle/seat, and carb leaks(internal) then move to vacuum leaks etc. if you 
don't find any problems with the carb. What carb are you running? If you 
happen to have a later model Thermoquad, they have porous floats that will 
eventually begin to obsorb fuel and cause flooding.
