Re: [Chrysler300] 77 Newport

I will add my nickel's worth about the "old" lean burn system. I have owned
a number of these over the last ten years and have found the simplest remedy
is to find a 76-81 F body(Volare, Aspen, Lebaron rwd, Diplomat, Gran Fury)
that had the electronic ignition. I take the wiring harness that unplugs
near the right valve cover and the control box, ballast resister, the
distributor etc. and remove the lean burn computer and the wiring to the
same point at the right valve cover. Plug in the wiring from the donor car
w/ the control box, change the distributor etc. and it's done. If the carb
is acting up, I put a early 70's 318 carter carb on and it runs like it
should have all along! I have only had to do the carb on two of ten+
conversions I have done. Even w/ the lean burn carb in good condition the
change in performance is amazing. Best part is most bone yards around here
only charge me $25.00 for all I need!($50.00 w/ a carb that's rebuildable)
