Maybe I should have mentioned that we are starting the car from under the
hood. The ignition switch is not working at this time, so wouldn't that
bypass the saftey switch, or would it still interfer with the starting
procedure?

We are using a wire from the coil to the positive post of the battery, and
arcing the two terminals on the solenoid to start her. Cranks right up, but
still tries to turn the driveshaft. Wasn't doing that before I messed with
the selector buttons. I was wondering if it would start in gear like that.
Maybe you are right, it is just turning the driveshaft while in nuetral due
to torque from the tranny. If hooked back up, the tranny probably wouldn't
have enough torqe to make the shaft turn?? I will have to try cranking it
with the other selectors pushed in to see if it will do it.
