RE: [Chrysler300] 300C/D Patrol Cars

All,
Yes, the 361 was available in 1962 in Dodge, Plymouth and Chryslers. Here are the spec for these engines from the NHRA Classification Guide:

HP Disp Mfg C.R.Ind.Make Model/Trans Manifold Lifter Head cc
265 361 C 9.00 1-2 Stro WWC3-201/or BBD-3245S 1.50 H 73.5
305 361 DP 9.00 1-4 Cart AFB3252S/S,3253S/AUTO 1.50 H 66.5

HP Disp Mfg Deck Type Valves Cam Lift Gasket Springs
265 361 C .047 Flat 1.94/1.60 398/396 .028 Outer Only
305 361 DP .020 Flat 1.94/1.60 444/456 .028 Outer w/Damp

I owned a 1962 Dodge Polara 500 with the 305hp 361. The single four barrel was very small and the performance was somewhat less than spectacular. The earlier 361's had, in some cases, 10-1 CR and even dual four barrel carbs. One of my friends in highschool had a 1959 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer with the 305hp 361. It took premium fuel and it flat flew in that big heavy boat. It would go 14 sec ET's on street tires. So even a 361 could be formidable. LGJ

The 361 Ram D500 option was the "standard" ram available on the '60 Dodge,
with the 383 Ram as an option. I don't believe the (that) 361 was still
available in 62, having been displaced (replaced) entirely by the 383.
