Hi group:

Just saw a Travis Tritt video called "Strong Enough to be Your Man"
which featured 2 H convertibles.  One was white and the other turquoise.  One
had black upholstery, but the way it was shot, you couldn't tell which one
(or both).  Just thought I would mention it, and ask if these cars belonged
to any of you.

You guys are all wrong about "stinky" vinyl!  There's no better smell in
the whole world than a brand new doll!  Right, Girls?   :)

I am beginning to think that lower real quarter panels for our 57-59
letter cars are a figment of our imagination. As best I can determine,
NOBODY has yet received any in hand from these people and try as I might
as well as at least two other member have, they will not put phone calls
through to the responsible party at their end, nor will they return
phone calls.. What is going on at MetalCrafters??? How did the Club get
mixed-up with these characters??? Have they charged anyone's credit card
  for these parts yet???

I would like to get pleasantly surprised by hearing that anyone has
received their parts and more pleasantly surprised by getting a return
phone call from anyone at MetalCrafters.

  That's my 2 cents worth.

Obiwan,

Sounds to me like your friend has MetalCrafters confused with someone else.
MetalCrafters has not, so far, manufactured repro panels or any repro parts,
for sale to the public. Rather they make one-off show cars for
DaimlerChrysler and others.  They only agreed to do these panels as a favor
to D/C thanks to some serious prodding from D/C brass...  more info about
the company can be found on their web site:  http://www.metalcrafters.com/ .
Sure doesn't sound like flakes to me. Not that I am endorsing the quality of
their product - haven't seen any yet, nor heard from anyone who has !

John and others....
A website is one thing but good and fair dealing with the public is
another. From my point of view, I am totally unimpressed with their
website.... it is just PR and nothing of use to our type of auto
enthusiast.

Whoever is handling this project for the Club needs to get on the ball
and get these character moving with some product and some customer
response.

My friend is quite aware of MetalCrafters from previous dealings and he does not believe that he is confusing them with anyone. I showed him the photos of the prototype quarters on the website and he was immediately a skeptic.  This was some 6 weeks or so ago. There also is a renown auto upholstery fabric manufacture in the Northwest US(WA) who he also has such an opinion of.  Ordered and paid for up front upholstery fabric for his New Yorker and in some 3 years has yet to receive it.  There are in this industry many frauds, scams and charlatans and many of our members have at one time or another been victim.  In fact I suspect that most of us have been made promises that have been broken by some of these types of operatives.  Incidentally my friend is located in Southern Calif and he among the best at what he does.  Incidentally where is MetalCrafters located?

Perhaps we shall know more as this quarter panel project plays out.

Roger said "Incidentally where is MetalCrafters located?"

I need not any of these panels and do indeed know absolutely nothing about
MetalCrafters but I did indeed do a simple search and found out their
address.

MetalCrafters
11161 Slater Ave
Fountain Valley, CA 92708

Sure some of you may have needed these panels yesterday but it looks like
they are not available for sale yet. Will they ever be? Who knows? Is it
possible that they might have other more important projects, contracts and
other commitments than these panels? We can only hope that this panel
project really happens but for now lets all be a little PATIENT. Or maybe we
can all flood them with calls and emails, get them really MAD and then they
can scratch the whole project and any future projects.

Perhaps someone on the left coast who lives nearby could stop in for a
friendly visit and get a feel for their projection on this panel project.
This would certainly help a lot of members who need these panels an give
them some absolute answers.

Just my 300 cents worth.

Unless I am mistaken, that G convertible is the same one that was at
Carlisle last summer.  The seller was asking $56,000.00 for it.  It might be
interesting to see what it brings in Atlantic City.  Also, while I hesitate
to mention this (because since I got mine, they are springing up all over the
place) the paint code on that G is RR1, meaning that, in fact, it is a
repainted cinnamon car.

I have to agree on Charlie that we should be patient with metalcrafters
about the reproduction quarters. They obviously have more important projects
going on, and aren't in the business of making reproduction parts for a
living. Since they are doing prototype cars for the big three, they probably
have there hands full with the new car introductions only a month away. I
don't see anyone else volunteering to do 57 - 59 quarters, or anything else
for our old Chryslers for that mater. They should however at least return
calls and give some idea of when they will be done.
300ly,
