Hi Daniel, The air cooled powerflite and torqueflite were used through mid-priduction in 58. Used them up until the ran out. I've had over 70 57 to 59s now, as a trend, LA (ex: LP2L) built cars had air cooled TFs later into production than other plants Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone -------- Original message -------- From: Daniel Davids <ddavids@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: 1/16/18 10:08 PM (GMT-05:00) To: L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [FWDLK] Powerflite/Torqueflite question On Jan 16, 2018, at 6:59 PM, jrawa <000001299b98410f-dmarc-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: That's a torqueflite -------- Original message -------- From: Daniel Davids <ddavids@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: 1/16/18 8:47 PM (GMT-05:00) Subject: [FWDLK] Powerflite/Torqueflite question It is air-cooled (no provision for cooling lines to radiator), and it came with a bell housing with mesh vent screens. Its torque converter has fins on the outside, presumably to dissipate heat to the air that comes in through the bell housing vents. How can I tell if it is a Powerflite or a Torqueflite? What years did Chrysler make air-cooled automatics? (2 or 3 speed) Here’s a photo.
