2 times?- kinda sorta if you're differentiating between compression and exhaust stroke, BUT, a 1cyl lawnmower engine right up to a V16 packard will have any referenced cylinder reach TDC with every rotation measured from TDC to TDC regardless of compression or exhaust stroke, 2 stroke or 4 cycle.
the cam makes a full 360 degree rotation in a 4 cycle engine every 2 turns of the crank-
if youre trying to find #1 for timing- and if your harmonic/pulley markings are assumed to be askew, remove the valve cover, remove #1 plug, rotate crank by hand and watch for the intake valve to open, keep rotating until you see it close- this is typically BDC or close to it, then rotate another 1/2 turn until you can see or feel the piston reach a pinnacle of travel- now you have dead #1- set the rotor to be about 1/8 before t aligns to the terminal of #1 on the cap- rotationaly you should be @5 degrees advance [pay mind to your engine- hemis, polys are CW rotation, B/RB are CCW]

In other words, #1 piston TDC until the #1 piston is at TDC again.
