Re: [FWDLK] Carbs

Since we're discussing the observation of ANY faked/cloned/tribute/replica
dual-carbureted model, there are certain tell-tales that are evident to an experienced
observer.

In the 1958-series of dual-carbureted models, there, fortunately, are several items which are difficult to obtain and to install, as part of the 'cloning' process.

Among them are the unique dual-4-barrel-carbureted passenger's side exhaust manifold and the correct fuel lines/connections to it, and, of course, the correct
date-coded AFB carburetors.

The subject Regal Lancer, besides being factory-coded as a Single-4 model, did not have the correct exhaust manifold and its fuel line was, initially, a length of rubber hose.

Its owner has, subsequently, installed a dual-carb exhaust manifold on it, but I have photos of it showing the single-carb manifold on it; I don't know if he has arranged to install date-coded carb tags on it (which are now, unfortunately, being re-popped).

My 300F Special GT is coded as JUST a standard 375HP, torqueflite card and the IBM card states the same thing. BUT like all Specials, it left the assembly line and went to "Header House" and was factory modified. And that made it SPECIAL. The 300F Special GT Convertible that Milton Robson just sold for $437,250 also has a plain old production record. The cars /chassis that went to Ghia for their work all have standard paperwork but huge special enhancements after production that multiply their rarity and value. Just because it ain't on the data tag or the IBM doesn't mean diddly squat. Think about the Dual Ghia Dodges so this hits closer to home for you, Neil. W

Aivar's problem is that the car is CODED for being a single-4 model.
On the P/T plate and on its IBM card, and, IIRC---gotta look it up,
    on its BROADCAST SHEET, too.

    Bummer.

He also bought it in its Single-4 condition.

    Facts are a bitch, I know.....it's still a D500, however!
