So I asked Aivar Lejins last night what he knows about his Regal (which is
White /Gold by the way) and here is his response. It is my contention that
REGARDLESS of the code on the car's data plate and build record, as an Auto
Show SPECIAL, this car very well could have been equipped WHEN NEW with the dual
quad Super D500 equipment. Maybe that was done after the assembly line but
at the factory "fix" building. Maybe the conversion was done at a Miami
dealer in prep for the show. Maybe the previous owner put them on.
I just know that the car was dual quad when Aivar bought it and drove
it home from Florida to California. We report you
decide.

Hi Wayne,
I bought the car with dual quads on it from the second owner. He said that
the original owner had taken them off to improve the gas mileage. Neil feels
that the car originally came with a single quad and is a genuine D500 not a
Super D500. Personally, to be honest, I don't know. All I know is that this
awesome and rare car made it from Saint Lucie Florida to Monrovia Ca. without
any problems with the air conditioning working.
Aivar.

Subject: Re: Carbs
Mr. Lejins' car is NOT an OEM Super D500 model.
It IS a
real, heavily-optioned, Single-4 D500 Regal
Lancer, (Bronze-on-White body) which allegedly may have been a Florida
'Show Car', originally.
Mr. Lejins had its current two four barrel carb
set-up be installed on it sometime after he purchased the
car.
Although some were undoubtedly built, no known Super D500
Regals are known to exist, of the 1,163 which were built, in one of the
4-available color schemes, and, altho there is presently no known
production break-outs between those four color combinations, I happen to
believe that the rarest color combination may be the Black-on-Bronze
body scheme, from my observations of the surviving examples of
them.
