Re: [FWDLK] 413 Engine removal

If you can remove the nuts, holding the converter to the crankshaft hub, the converter can stay in the transmission and it won't need to be drained.Less likely to damage the pump seal too.

Hi;

I am going to be removing an engine out of a 61 New Yorker soon. I have an assistant who is very experienced in engine removal. However, I looked over the shop manual. The manual instructions has the transmission and converter drained and the transmission removed from the car first. Is the necessary? Or can a temporary brace assembly be used to support the transmission?

Also, Is there any pointers that anyone would have that may not be covered in the manual?

Thanks for the help
