Some might recall my earlier message, about my car's suddenly losing its Neutral condition, upon arriving at a remote gas station, on the way-back, from Tulsa. I retained Reverse, and could get all 3 gears, from the "1" button. Last week, when Brent Burger's car's former 2.76 rear end was installed..... (it works NICE, but he's not gonna win any drag races, any more, but he WILL pass a lot more filling stations----and, no, I haven't taken a road trip, yet, to see what the new MPG will be)......but my shop reported that the culpret, for the transmission anomaly was........simply, that one of the two bolts, that secure the speedo/odo holding-bracket, to the pushbutton housing, worked loose and dropped-out, allowing the speedo/odo cable to have too much slack, and to lose the "N" operation. How weird is that? However, my "trusty" shop apparently may have not, (or may have mis-)connected the Reverse-light switch, to the pushbutton housing, because the car has no back-up lights; so, it looks like I'll have to remove the pushbutton housing, and see what's-up, with the Reverse switch. Also, & this is a tad more serious, when the shop installed new front brake lines , to see if the existing very-newish lines might be defective, internally, (they weren't) , so as to cause an initial braking-pull, that goes away, with a strong(er) brake application , they happened to remove the front wheels. Turns out that the shop didn't adequately reinstall the right front spinner hubcap. YUP, after a short cruise, a few miles around our rural town, on FRI, I parked the car @ my office, & returned to the car, about an hour later. Whoops! No rt/ft wheelcover. Drove the route 3 times, before writing-off the 'cap', which included a 24K plated knight's head, on the spinner (to duplicate the appearance of the gold-laquered OEM Knight's Head). Put the spare wheelcover on, which had been carried in the trunk. SO, I need a reference for a 24K gold plater, PLEASE, to do-up one of my other spare spinners! Hey, you either drive your car(s), or you don't!
